Pocket Monsters Anime Sounds Collection
My obsessive-compulsive nature wouldn't allow me to have a CD page and knowingly leave the discography incomplete, so these "other" CDs are ones that I don't particularly care for and won't put into the rotation or provide a track list for (of course... I might put up track lists later, but I don't have nor care to have any of these as MP3s, so they would NEVER go into the rotation). So here's the background music CD. I don't usually care for background music (the movie bgm I download just so I have the complete CDs). However, this was released when the anime first came out, and it has 42 tracks of background music, which is probably every track that appears in the series... probably even to the present. Most of it's actually just gameboy music that the jazzed up a bit. Take the bike theme for instance, that's about the same as in the gameboy games. So yea, that's the background music CD.
Pokemon Gameboy Sounds Collection
This is, plain and simple, the music from the red, blue, and green version of the Pocket Monsters game. You heard me. A CD of gameboy music. I have not heard of such a thing for any other game. Frankly, I can't stand gameboy music after I've played the game as long as I've played those first versions of pokemon (600 hours and counting!), so a CD of the music is rather... laughable. There must be a market for this kind of thing, though, or else they wouldn't make it... Disturbingly enough, this double CD set has 196 tracks on it o_O;
Pokemon Hikerukana?
This CD comes with piano music so you can play along with the CD on your piano. It came out at the beginning of the Pokemon Music career, in '97 I believe. The CD itself has 21 tracks on it (there was a descrepancy before... but this is straight off of Pokemon Japan's website), all of which are gameboy music, and all of which you can play along to on your own piano. Kind of a cool idea, but it's unfortunate that it never seemed to be that popular. This cover image is from Amazon, where you can also order the CD (not being payed to say that, I just think it's cool you can still get ahold of it if you wish).
GBA Ruby & Sapphire Music Super Complete
As with the Pokemon Gameboy Sounds Collection, this two disc set is simply a compilation of the background music to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Gold and Silver didn't get one of these... but Ruby and Sapphire does :p I know the sound maybe is a little better on the GBA (...maybe), but it's still gameboy music, and a two disc set of GAMEBOY music... is still laughable to me, six years later :p I STILL don't know if they make these for other games, or if it's just Pokemon (I kinda think it's probably other games too, at this point). This was released in April 2003, several months after the Japanese release of R/S, but weeks after the American :p This two-disc set has somewhere in the neighborhood of 106 tracks, not counting "bonuses." This CD also comes with an illustration collection w/character designs and a color booklet that helps you... enjoy the CD better? I can't quite understand the Japanese ^_^; The image came from Pokemon Japan, the same place where I got the hacked-up goody info from :p
Chiisaki Mono
This is a single released by the artist who sings Chiisaki Mono (the theme for the new movie, translated as "The Small Things"), and it also has another song of hers in both Japanese and Chinese as well as the insturmental version of Chiisaki Mono. Since it's half Pokemon, I posted it here, but Nintendo doesn't have it listed on their website, and they also didn't release a single for the movie for the first time... ever. So you have this CD, with track listings, that contains Pokemon music, but is really J-pop. Just thought you should know about it anyway ^_^; Plus you get a track list, cause I researched to find this artist on the web!
*1. Chiisaki Mono (single mix) (The Small Things)
*2. Tsubame ni Naritai (I Want to Be a Swallow [Japanese])
*3. Wo Yuan Zuo Yi Zhi Xiao Yan (I Want to Be a Swallow [Mandarin])
*4. Chiisaki Mono (insturmental mix)
